06:49 pm - TV Memeage Here's where you learn how much of a couch potato I am. Currently it's heavily US-centric. There are also shows on here that I know I've seen *most* of but I'm not certain whether I've seen every episode.
The instructions are simple: change the color and/or bold the shows you've watched at least three complete episodes of, and italicize a show if you're certain you've seen every episode of it.
You can add up to three shows to the list, but keep them in alphabetical order.

08:12 pm - A photo meme A couple of months ago a photo mem was doing the rounds. At the time my photographic options were limted. Now that my camera is still shiny (though it's seen a couple of outings) I thought I'd post this here.
Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about - it can be anything from the house I live in to my favourite shoes. Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry. That way you get to know a little bit about my life.
Tomorrow is RDO. Cheap-arse Tuesday movies would be great. Sadly there's sweet FA on that I'm interested in seeing. Possibly Brick. Maybe Hoodwinked though I'm a bit dubious. Current Mood: chipper

11:19 pm - Australian Movie Meme
Ripped off Inspired by binka_boo's Australian movie meme but with more movies this time round. The list was ripped from the Murdoch University's Australian Cinema database but the "Australianess" of some of these films is rather dubious (just because the director of The Rocky Horror Picture Show was Australian doesn't mean it's an Australian movie!) so I've trimmed a few. I've also added a few notables and infamous ones that came to mind.
Bold if you've seen, Italacise if you own. Add as many as you can think of (with some details) (New Zealand films count if they've been 'adopted', but mark them NZ)

03:10 pm - Movie quiz I must be out of touch. Alternatively I've never bothered to look at the back of magazines much. However the picture on the back of my issue of Empire magazine caught my eye.
Probably inspired by the Virgin Music - Exercise Your Music Muscle, the mag had a picture populated with various references to famous movies. The three minis along the back street are obviously from The Italian Job and guy in the phone-booth is obviously Superman.
While hunting the net for a picture to share with you I discovered that not only are there THREE pictures, but that it's been out for a year!
So with that in mind (and without resorting to Google) see what you can get from these:
(WARNING: Not for those on dial-up) The Town, The Park and The Beach.
Obviously there are/will be arguments over whether a crawling severed hand (for example) refers to The Addams Family, The Mummy's Hand or Evil Dead. Current Mood: geeky

You are 'French'. In the nineteenth century, it was the international language of diplomacy. It is a 'beautiful' language, meaning that it is really just a low-fidelity copy of Latin.
You know the importance of communicating 'diplomatically', which for you means both being polite and friendly when necessary and using sophisticated, vicious sarcasm when appropriate. Your life is guided by either existentialism or nihilism, depending on the weather. You have a certain appreciation for the finer things in life, which is a diplomatic way of saying that you are a disgusting hedonist. Your problem is that French has been obsolete for a long time.

- blackadder:
One of my favourite television programmes EVER! I was first introduced to the second season (Elizabethan) and the sarcasm and dry humour were just brilliant. The only downside is so few episodes. - costumes:
I've been interested in costumes and fancy dress since I was a little kid. Now I even make stuff myself :-) - german:
I've had a fascination with Germany and it's culture for years. I've had two attempts at learning the language (but lack of use has seen it almost disappear) and am interested in its history. - j.r.r. tolkien:
I discovered The Hobbit when I was about 10 and had read Lord of the Rings by the time I was 12. I think it was the back history that really intrigued me. And it was the start of a life-long interest. - legend:
This actually applies to both the Richard Dean Anderson TV series and the Tim Curry movie. They have nothing in common except a title but I think they're both well written and amazing concepts. - neil gaiman:
I discovered Neil's writing through the Sandman comics and have gradually worked my way through much of his other work. He has a very interesting turn of phrase. And I finally got to meet him this year! - richard iii:
Possibly one of the most controversial Kings in English history. While I don't think he's the pure and untainted angel, I don't think he's anywhere near the monster that Tudor propaganda created. And this was one of the reasons I dislike Shakespeare for so many years. - scots gaelic:
My background is Scottish and it's a language I love the sound of. It's a labguage I'd love to learn but it needs to be used or it will drop off - titanic:
It's a ship that still fascinates people today and has interested me since I first heard about it as a teenager. I can remember catching a train into the Latrobe Library on a Sunday to read through microfice rolls of old newpaper articles. I not only learned about history but some good researching skills too. - zepplins:
Primarily the Hindenberg and the R-101. From a time when you didn't have to be somewhere yesterday so making sure your journey was comfy was important. They have a mystique all their own.

12:47 pm - The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test
Pure Geek 43 % Nerd, 73% Geek, 21% Dork |
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Geek, earning you the title of: Pure Geek.
It's not that you're a school junkie, like the nerd, and you don't really stand out in a crowd, like the dork, you just have some interests that aren't quite mainstream. Perhaps it's anime, perhaps it's computers, perhaps it's bottlecaps, perhaps it's all of those and more. Your interests take you to events and gatherings that are filled with people you find unusual and beyond-the-pale, but you don't quite consider yourself "of that crowd." Instead, you consider yourself to be fairly normal.
Which, you are.

Takes the piss of the Pottersue fic big-time!
1. Go to the Elouai doll maker 2. Make an ordinary doll of yourself and save it. 3. Take that doll and, leaving a couple things (nose, eyebrows, whatever) the same, Mary Sue yourself. Make the most blatant Mary Sue you can conceive. 4. Post "Before" and "After" in your LJ. Bonus points if your Sue has a backstory of some sort Current Mood: silly

You got 19 answers right. You got 1 answers wrong. You're a little ripper! You have a near perfect grasp of the colourful gab and can probably make yourself understood in most social occasions, such as Gazza's weekly Barbie... but I bet you can't throw a boomerang! Current Mood: amused
