Remake rant continues
Continuing from the remake rant from a couple of weeks ago this little news item came out this week:

Rocky Horror to be Remade.

Yes boys and girls, the only movie to still be showing in cinemas some 30 years after it was made is getting the remake treatment. No, Richard O'Brien is not involved in it.

"Our hope has always been that each new endeavour and rebirth will expose the Rocky Horror experience to new audiences and expand the fan base."

Yeah right.

Your argument might hold some water but for three salient facts:
1. Rocky Horror is shit.
2. Richard O'Brien was in the D&D movie
3. The movie, and less I am backwards, is a film version of a stage music, which as a derivative work, makes it ripe for remaking. It isn't as if they are making Star Wars.

1. Matter of opinion.

2. *So was Tom Baker* And I still think Jeremy Irons is a good actor despite appearing in the D&D movie.

3. Lucas already remade Star Wars.

1. Matter of opinion.

Yes, but MY opinions matter. :P
Besides, the RHPS brand was ruined by the sequel that most people try to avoid ever mentioning.

2. *So was Tom Baker* And I still think Jeremy Irons is a good actor despite appearing in the D&D movie.

Point! A veritable hit! I had forgotten that. I have tried to not recall the D&D movie in detail. But Mr Baker clearly has a unique sense of humour. O'Brien seems to have created and been wedded to RHPS. (I may be wrong on that, I admit).

3. Lucas already remade Star Wars.

He improved it. How else would we know that Rhodians grew third arms at puberty.

I know, I spelt Rodian wrong.

/The shame!
// I am now wondering if Greedo did have a third arm. \
/// Trying to remember how that shot goes now is like trying to catch a rainbow in a glass.

Personally, I can only wish the producers of the remake the same box office success that the original achieved.

And what flavor of "OH HELL NO" would the producers prefer?

If Richard ain´t touching it, either am I.

I like Richard O´Brien. Ageless, bald bugger. He once said something that impressed me. He was being interviewed and started talking about how it´d be lovely to swap gender at will, so he could say to his wife ¨do you want to carry the baby this time, or shall I?¨

Interesting bloke. I reallt liked him in the english ¨Robin of Sherwood¨ series. Plus some of the Rocky Horror songs are my favourites of all time. Hell, my homophobe brother will even belt out ¨Sweet Transvestite¨ occasionally. But that´s a whole other story ;-)

Why?

Do they need more American accents in it?

It might be interesting to see what can be done with today's special effects, but there's so much to loose here...
