Valé David Gemmell
Fantasy novellist dead at 57. I enjoyed what I read of Gemmell's works and he seemed an interesting chap.

Good grief. Waylander series is one of my and [info]usagiozbuns favourites.

Vale indeed.

I never read any of his stuff, but reading his biography, I think I should read at least some of it out of respect.

I did read many of his Waylander books. I enjoyed them for their heroic characters (including women), and 'against all odds' themes, mixed with an interesting dash of philosophy. Although it seemed to me that the later ones were "more of the same". Still, I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
